My Parents Wedding Day
March the 10th 1945 was declared a holiday, because the whole of Messina turned out to see Liliana, a local girl, marry the dashing English Officer. Dad was in command of the whole Squadron that had landed in Messina several months previously. As well as the local people, it was a big day for the Navy there: the boss was getting married.
To Mummy, it was a fairy tale come true.
Their wedding car in the picture, came to a grinding halt because everyone wanted to catch a glimpse of the happy couple.
