Feeling his pain, I self-talk, "I know, Son. That's just not our strong suit when facing the female species. It took me decades to learn that. I hope you learn it much sooner. That's why I rarely argue with your mom anymore. I have lost verbal battles too many to count."
It all starts in the mind, and one would think the man should have the edge here. Not so fast. We are talking something much more useful than IQ ranking. The male brain may be 9% larger than the female's, but the female brain has "10% more neurons located in the part of the brain that is responsible for language". Not only that, but the hippocampus, the part of the brain that handles emotions, is larger in women than in men. And that's the root of our verbal disability.
That scientific reality makes it futile for a male to go tongue to tongue against a woman. Yet the average Joe keeps stumbling into debates with a woman, thinking he stands a chance at winning the verbal bout. He enters the wordy arena aiming to argue facts and figures, but the female comes armed with a quiver full of instincts, intuition and emotions...these make for an arsenal of much superior weapons.
Here is what fools guys into thinking they can take on women verbally. Typically a man is strong with his hands. Since he fights best with his hands, he wrongly concludes he can fight just as well with his words. Then he discovers the woman is strongest at the tongue level; shea champion and a giant at waging words, wielding tongue.
A man's limited vocabulary matched up against a woman's unlimited vocabulary is a prescription for male defeat and female triumph almost every time the two engage in an argument.
Women can follow numerous trails when arguing, while men are one-track in their argument. A woman can change subjects several times during an argument and still find her way back to what the argument was about to begin with. A man, on the other hand, gets lost the very first time the subject of the argument changes. It's like a guy getting lost on a trip; he yearns for a map,Air Jordan 2010 shoes, but in the heat of an argument, there is no such thing as a verbal map, no equivalent of a MapQuest or GPS.

God Helps Those Who Help Themselves
I don't know about you, but I often don't know whether I should act on something or just surrender it to God and let it show up in my life.
Reviewing my experience with both these approaches, I find that both have worked and both have failed.
Sometimes when I surrender, things do show up. Sometimes nothing happens until I act. And sometimes I do the wrong things, too, and it still doesn't show up.
Last Sunday, I got lost on my way to a new location. I decided to surrender. Intuitively, I knew when to turn left or right on each crossroad. Suddenly,puma soccer shoes, remarkably, I found myself upon familiar ground and was able to complete my journey to my intended destination.
Last night, for example, no amount of praying helped me ease my hacking cough. Since I had not been able to sleep for three days because of coughing every time I dozed off, I was in a highly agitated state. Finally, out of desperation, I jumped out of bed, wrapped myself up in multiple layers of clothes, stumbled out into the freezing night, climbed into my car and drove around until I could find a pharmacy that was open past midnight. I found one; purchased a coughing-sneezing-aching-let-you-sleep at night medication.
For the first, in what seemed like a very long time, I slept very deeply and woke up completely refreshed.
I know that these are small and perhaps trivial examples, but they do point to a much larger theme. God helps those who help themselves.
Basically, you have to act in this world to get things done. Rarely do things just show up by themselves. This does happen, but not at a statistically significant level to count on it. However, after you act, you have to let it go. You can't predict the outcome, and you definitely can't control it. Thus, I have come to the conclusion that our best recourse is to do what we can and then let go the results. Basically, we act and then we surrender.
Here is a small fable to illustrate my point:
In a time long ago, there was a clever merchant who bought some camels from a distant town and had to transport them to his home through the desert. On his first night in the desert with his new herd of camels, he did not know whether to take the time to tie them all up before he went to sleep that night in his tent. Should he just trust God and hope that he would be able to see them still flocked around in the morning? Should he make the effort of spending several hours tying up each camel to a stake in the ground?
Mysteriously, a monk showed up. He was passing through and asked the merchant for some food and shelter.
After dining the monk, the merchant asked him what to do about his camels.
"Tie up the camels," said the sage, "and trust God to keep them there until morning."

Googling Using Mind Maps,Precision Instruments
Whenever I want to learn something new I just fire up my browser and start googling. The wealth of information that floods into my browser can sometimes be overwhelming. There are usually tons of new terms and ideas that I've never heard of before. To keep from drowning in this sea of information I use mind maps to help me sort, breakdown and analyze my information. I stumbled onto this technique a couple of years ago at the height of the financial crises. I would read articles mentioning: "mortgage back securities", "credit default swaps", "collateralized debt obligation" and many more terms that I didn't have a clue what they meant. I started searching the internet and became buried in an avalanche of confusing information. Frustrated,Webcam, I finally built a set of features in MindApp that allowed me to put the googled information into a mind map. Using the mind map like a set of structured notes I was quickly able to get a much better handle on the mess we were (are) really in. To see a snippet of this mind map click here.
As I discover new things, I copy and paste them into a mind map. Sometimes the map is organized into predefined categories but most often it grows organically and serendipitously. As the map grows I'm continuously reorganizing it. It lets me to see the big picture at a glance and is great way to see how the all the stuff fits together. It also gives me clues on what I might be missing and lets me keep track of where I've been.
The mind mapping software that you use should have several special features. First, you obviously need to be able to quickly and easily copy and paste from your browser into your mind map. Ideally you would like to drag information from your browser into your mind map. Secondly, you will need to be able to copy and paste large amounts of text (maybe an entire article) into your mind map. Third, you don't want to lose the hyperlinks that are embedded within the copied text. This is important because most web content will have many hyperlinks to supporting information. Finally, the mind mapping software should keep track of the source web page of the copied text. This will allow you to quickly and easily acess the web page from which the text was copied.
