Sim, who is battling a sinus infection, opened on the 10th tee at Thornblade and birdied his opening hole. He then ran off three straight birdies from the 12th to jump into the lead at 15-under. He parred the next four holes. The tours leading-money winner birdied the first and followed with an eagle on the par-five second. Sim, who has four top-fives in his six starts this season, birdied the fourth and then two-putted for birdie on No. 5 to move six clear of field at 20- under. He had a chance at shooting a 59, but was derailed by a bogey on the par-three sixth. Sim atoned for that mistake with a birdie on the par-three ninth. "After a slight delay, I got off to a fast start. I putted the ball great and hit the ball just as well," said Sim, who won the Stonebrae Classic earlier this year. "Ive already had a win and a playoff loss in my last start. Ive just been playing great and hitting the ball well." Gomez bogeyed the 12th, but quickly bounced back with three birdies in the next four holes to jump to 14-under. He then eagled the par-five 17th. After a pair of pars around the turn, Gomez birdied the second and sixth to move to 18-under. However, he bogeyed the last to end three shots back. Like Gomez, Adams played the third round at Brights Creek. Adams ran off three straight birdies to open his round. He turned in 14-under after birdies on six and eight. Adams carded three more birdies on the back nine to share second. B.J. Staten fired a six-under 65 Saturday and is alone in fifth at 14-under- par 201.
